The region’s labor movement will hold a protest rally tomorrow at 4 p.m. at 100 Fisher, Ave., White Plains, to protest the tax loopholes that allow major corporations to avoid what activists say is their fair share of federal income taxes. The event is sponsored by the Communications Workers of America and MoveOn.org. Westchester-Putnam Central Labor Body, AFL-CIO, will also be handing out leaflets throughout the region.
According to the press release: “This Tax Day, we are demanding that the 1 percent pay their fair share of taxes. While most of us pay taxes for schools, roads, and other vital services—billionaires and 1 percent companies like Wells Fargo and GE pay nothing. That’s why we’re protesting, marching, and rallying in hundreds of cities to tell the 1 percent that it’s time to pay their fair share.”
