The average salary of Bronxville’s 11 public school administrators tops $200,000, according to a Journal News analysis of data released by the state Department of Education today.
When it comes to average salaries, Bronxville leads the list in the Lower Hudson Valley followed by Scarsdale where the average salary for 19 administrators is $197,888.
North Salem’s ranks third with an average salary of $185,111, Edgemont’s average ranks fourth with $184,550 for its 10 administrators, and Tuckahoe rounds out the top five with an average of $183,644 for its seven administrators.
On the other end, Mount Vernon’s 52 administrators are expected to earn an average of $143,321, the region’s lowest. Garrison has the second lowest average of $147,321 for its two administrators.
But when it comes to superintendent salaries, Edgemont’s Nancy Taddiken tops the list with a salary of $311,962 followed by Scarsdale Superintendent Michael McGill at $304,648.
However, if you add in benefits and “other” pay, McGill ranks first with $401,230 in total compensation followed by Harrison Superintendent Louis Wool with total compensation of $377,265 and Bronxville’s Superintendent David Quattrone with total compensation of $377,119.
By comparison, Rockland’s highest-paid superintendent by salary is South Orangetown’s Kenneth Mitchell who is expected to earn $307,328 in total compensation next year. Carmel’s Superintendent James Ryan tops the compensation in Putnam with $320,784.
In all, 26 Lower Hudson Valley superintendents are expected to earn more than $300,000 in total compensation.
The figures were disclosed today by the state Education Department, which requires school districts, to report the salaries of top administrators who are expected to earn more than $123,000 next year. The actual figures will vary in the upcoming year because of staff turnover. The data also does not include the big five city school districts, including Yonkers, because their residents do not vote on the school budget.
