April’s sales tax collections were mixed throughout the Lower Hudson Valley when compared to a year earlier, according to new figures released by the state Department of Taxation and Finance.
While sales tax collections rose in Rockland, they fell in Westchester and Putnam. In Westchester’s cities, the collections rose in New Rochelle and White Plains but dropped in Mount Vernon and Yonkers when compared to April 2011.
Here is a glimpse of the sales tax collections from last month and how they compared to April 2011:
Putnam: $3,592,228, down 1.1%
Rockland: $13,081,626, up 4.1%
Westchester: $34,903,591, down 2.1%
Mount Vernon: $1,345,300, down 0.5%
New Rochelle: $1,931,062, up 3.7%
White Plains: $4,091,486, up 6.2%
Yonkers: $4,800,393, down 0.7%
