More than 44,000 New Yorkers have been hired through a website the state launched last fall, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced. There are currently 71,000 job postings listed on Jobs Express.
The site sorts the listings by region to help job seekers evaluate growing local industries and see what positions are available in specific economic sectors.
“From day one, my administration has been focused on jobs, jobs, jobs, and with initiatives ranging from the NY Works program, the Regional Economic Development Councils, to Jobs Express, we have moved New York State into the forefront of finding innovative ways to grow the economy and get people back to work,” Cuomo said in a statement.
When the site began last October, there were 60,000 job postings. Employers have added another 10,000, and the average number of visits per month is 106,000. About 8,000 employers have used Jobs Express to list jobs. The state Labor Department updates the listings daily.
