Gov. Andrew Cuomo doesn’t think much of Republicans attempt in Congress to defund the Affordable Care Act, predicting they won’t succeed.
New York, like other states, plan to start their health exchanges under so-called Obamacare on Oct. 1.
President Obama is vowing to veto any attempt to defund his health-care plan.
The GOP plan “advances a narrow ideological agenda that threatens our economy and the interests of the middle class,” a statement from the president’s Office of Management and Budget said. “The resolution would defund the Affordable Care Act, denying millions of hard-working middle class families the security of affordable health coverage.”
New York expects 1 million uninsured residents to get health insurance under the exchanges. The enrollment period runs from Oct. 1 through March 31.
