Below are remarks Gov. Andrew Cuomo made at Manhattanville College in Purchase this morning when he announced he was created the New York State Tax Relief Commission. Members of the panel include some heavy hitters, including former Gov. George Pataki and H. Carl McCall, former state comptroller and current chairman of the State University of New York’s Board of Trustees.

The commission will issue a report on its findings and recommendations by Dec. 6 for inclusion in the governor’s 2014 State of the State agenda.
The governor said Tax Relief Commission will collaborate with the Tax Reform and Fairness Commission, launched last December to conduct a comprehensive review of the state’s taxation policy, including corporate, sales and personal income taxes and make recommendations to improve and simplify the current tax system.
